About H.E. SUM Sokhamphou

Mr. SUM Sokhamphou is one of our prominent senior legal counsels with 18-year experiences in fundraising, purchase-sale of the company, restructuring the corporate governance, negotiation on complex transaction, alternative dispute resolution, and revising and updating strategy.

Mr. SUM Sokhamphou advised one of the leading Special Economic Zones in Cambodia to revise its strategies for accommodating more than 100 factories successfully. During the last 03 years, he assisted many small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startup companies to upgrade their existing corporate governance from family based structure to a standard corporate governance accepted by international with a clear long term vision and investment strategy roadmap. He also assisted those SMEs and startups to raise some investment funds and/or to obtain loan. His clients includes delivery service provider for online business, online organic mart, coffee shops, schools, small and medium industries and handcrafts, hotels and resorts as well as hospitals. He further assisted one leading educational school to procure investment capital for 08 Million United States dollars and established franchising business successfully.

Mr. SUM Sokhamphou has leaded many work such as due diligence, purchase-sale business transaction, and other corporate governance restructuring of the followings: (1) private owned international companies in the areas of hotel, hospitality, solar power plant, hydropower plant, telecommunication, the expansion from a microfinance into a commercial bank, and/or purchase-sale shares, share pledge; and (2) restructuring of governmental institution including the modernization of Ministry of the Environment and preparing and establishing a roadmap to develop Phnom Penh to become a smart city with sustainable development. He has leaded in consulting on strategies and laws for foreign embassies, specialized companies including real property and logistics to purchase or lease real properties, to obtain loans from the international bank and other loans.

Mr. SUM Sokhamphou has been selected as a Cambodian national expertise by the World Bank for an annual report (World Bank Doing Business) in the practice of insolvency law, investment law, and implementing the contracts in Cambodia.

Mr. SUM Sokhamphou obtained a Master Degree in Business Law and Investment Consulting from Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University, France. He is fluent in French, English and Khmer.
